The salty Atlantic breeze still clings to your hair, a sun-soaked beach towel is draped over your shoulder, and somewhere behind you a gull decides it wants the last bite of someone’s fries. That moment—equal parts sticky, sandy, and absolutely perfect—is precisely what The Scoop exists to capture. Consider this blog your personal cherry on top: a place where the best parts of a South Jersey summer are blended, swirled, and served up in big ol’ waffle cones of words, photos, and local love.


Why start a blog now?

Over the past few seasons our little shop has become more than a frozen-dessert counter. We’ve watched toddlers graduate from painted-tongue water ice smiles to after-school sundae runs. We’ve hosted first dates, 50-year anniversaries, and everything sweet in between. Through heat waves, pop-up thunderstorms, and the occasional mid-July “it’s-hotter-than-fresh-blacktop” afternoon, one thing stays constant: every great SunDaze story begins the same way—someone walks in the door with sand between their toes and a craving for something cold.

We wanted a space to share those stories in full color, to spotlight the makers behind your favorite flavors, and to highlight what’s happening in Ventnor City long after the last beach badge is tucked away for the season. The Scoop is that space. Here you’ll find insider news, flavor launches, community shout-outs, behind-the-counter antics, and the freshest blog posts displayed right up front (just like our rotating flavor rail).


After-beach rituals: rinse, repeat, refresh

 If you know Ventnor summers, you know the sacred 4 PM ritual: one quick rinse at the beach shower, a shuffle up the dunes, and then the ultimate debate—go home first or head straight for ice cream? (Spoiler: there’s no wrong answer, but “ice cream first” means you skip the dinner crowds.)
